IdahoGangs.com was created to provide the community, such as parents, teachers, counselors, and concerned citizens, with information about the criminal gangs operating in Idaho. This site provides information that can be used to determine whether or not a criminal gang is operating in your local community, neighborhood, or school. As a resource, this information will help people recognize the signs that a son, daughter, or student is idolizing gang culture or affiliating with a criminal gang. Research has shown that the best chance of getting youth out of gangs is to intercede as early as possible and have parental involvement.
In Idaho, gang members come from all races, cultures, and social classes. Contrary to popular belief, Idaho gang members are not all Hispanic youth from single parent households and low-income neighborhoods in the Nampa/Caldwell area or youth with shaved heads from the mountains in Northern Idaho. A large number of youth that are joining gangs are raised in two parent households with middle or sometimes upper levels of socio-economic status. In addition, gang activity is scattered throughout the entire State of Idaho from Sandpoint to Boise and from Caldwell to Idaho Falls.
Information sharing is a very powerful tool used to identify and address criminal gangs. The purpose of this site is to share information. Please send IdahoGangs.com any information, photographs, or other materials pertaining to gang activity in your community and, if possible, include the date and location of the suspected activity. Any information sent to IdahoGangs.com may be posted to this site unless the sender specifically asks that it not be. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact IdahoGangs.com. Working together as a team, we can make a difference and reduce gang activity in the State of Idaho.
